A
legacy of love arid dedication 
0nce there was a man who loved Tae Kwon Do and
the way it had helped his life. He wanted to use the resources
God had given him to allow others to receive the same kind
of experience he had known. So . . . he made a strong commitment.
It is in great part, because of the man, Dan M. Fleeting,
that the school of Shin's Martial Arts is at its present location
today. It is also because of the man's kind, generous nature,
and that of his loving family, that the Dan M. Fleeting Memorial
Tae Kwon Do Scholarship has been established.
This scholarship will be awarded to children
who have great need in their lives. It will act as a lighthouse
to guide a child to a better life, to light the path and be
a constant companion. The goal is to provide for complete
Tae Kwon Do instruction from beginning through Black Belt.
It will be awarded to one child every year at the tournament
in September. Through careful screening and Tae Kwon Do thinking,
a child will be chosen each year.
This is a moment Grand Master Shin has dreamed
of for many years. It provides him the opportunity to fulfill
a vision of helping children; a vision created when he was
very young. It has come as a result of the bond that Dan Fleeting
felt for Master Shin in the time they spent together. It was
through his relationship with Master Shin that Dan found the
friendship of Tae Kwon Do. The bond he felt with his instructor
was a powerful and positive influence on his life. It guided
Dan's love of Tae Kwon Do and perpetuated his interest in
children. And now, two people who shared a dream of helping
children in need complete the circle. A story of love and
dedication has been told, and a legacy has been created.
It is with deep thanks and sincere appreciation
to the family of Dan M. Fleeting that Grand Master Shin announces
this landmark in Tae Kwon Do. Once again, through the spirit
of martial art that is true, something good has happened in
a troubled world. The future holds many young people who will
be helped through this scholarship. We will look forward each
year at tournament time, not only to an exciting event, but,
now also, to the granting of this award.
